Evaluation!

I enjoyed this project although i am glad that its over! I enjoyed collaborating with another member of the same pathway as i thought it was good to bounce ideas to and from eachother and learn new techniques and practises. I think me a Craig worked well together but we deffinatly had our different strenghts and weaknesses! Craig is very technical and alot better at using the software than me although i wish we had spent more time together editing the final peice because i would of liked to learn more about the software from Craig to improve my editing skills. I thought our final peice was successful! I wasn't too sure about the idea of it at first because it is very similar to a peice of work i created in the first year ... however i think this final peice is a vast improvement and i think thats due to working with somebody else ... there were more ideas, more brain power, more motivation to complete something because you didn't want to let the other member of the group down. Similar to that i also tried harded to create better work as i thought if i handed something rubbish to Craig he would probably think 'WHY THE HELL AM I WORKING WITH HER!!!'.

Paranormal Activity ... Echos ... Over exaggeration

Me and Craig wanted to use very over exaggerated sound to really build tension within our final piece ... this is a great example ... in this clip around 2 minutes and 21 seconds in you can hear the 'demon' walking up the stairs but it is very echoed ... and if you walked up the stairs it wouldn't sound like that .... it connotes the supernatural, the unknown ... great for the effect we want to create in our final film.

Sound ... TV static

We also wanted to use a noise along these lines of a TV static ... just because its slightly creepy and it is a noise that is nearly almost stereotypically linked to a horror movie.

Sound ... Native American Music

We wanted to look at different possibilities for sound to use over our final piece ... we wanted to stick with the native american theme to stay on track with the story and illustration! So we had a look at some examples then Craig went away and used Logic to create some of his own sound.

Editing Film Test

Me and Craig decided to go away and film all of the footage by ourselves and compare them when we next met up to see what we had done differently to the same shot and give us some more variety when i came to filming the final piece. The quality of this test is not great and also it is very short but it was to get an idea of pace and timing. The lighting is also terrible although we need very dark, creepy footage if we shoot it with bright lighting at least we have the option to tone it down in preproduction.

Finally some success!!!! Alot more successful but im still not entirely happy with them! I have some time to tweek them so i am going to use this as my base and see if i can improve it ... i will get there!

Cloud testing

In this test i was using the camera and although i only have one layor of clouds it is started to become alot better! I just need to add more layors of clouds maybe to thicken it out and have them moving at different speeds.

Clouds

I had been trying for hours to make my clouds look decent then all of a sudden Matt Geeling walked through the door! My Knight in shining armor!!!! He showed me how to set up a camera in after effects to create more of a 3D approach. With this example i was messing about with the perspective and making things fly out of the camera to look as if you were falling through them! This is not a great example as all the clouds come towards you and they shouldn't! But it was my first attempt so bare with me!

Clouds

Just wanted to add this to my blog because this is what my clouds looked like before i added the camera! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! Awfull!

Looking at more clouds

To be honest i wanted a sky divers point of view to show me what the clouds would be like as they were falling! but i found it fairly hard to find a decent quality video ... however i did talk to Rick about it and we figure out that if you were falling the clouds in the forground would be moving alot faster than the ones in the background so i think tried to animate this in After Effects!

Sky Diving ... Clouds ... Falling

After my poor attept of stop motion i thought it would be better have another good look at the movement of clouds and try and study them carefully to hopefully give be a better chance of creating a more successful animation!

Stop motion testing

This was our first test when it came to animating the clouds! We wanted to keep the same style of cloud the illustrators used in their final peice ... bascially we took a few photos of cotton wool then inverted them on photoshop! However this test was created before Craig and I realised the technique the illustrators had used. So for this i Craig created a cloud shape from cotton wool and after a couple of minutes staring at it i wondered what it would look like if we just photocopied it.
So i used a few copies of the cloud and tried stop motion with them! To be honest it didn't turn out very well so i need to find another more successful way to animate them!
